Jones County High Point Trip Report

From I-59, in Laurel, MS, take the US Hwy 84 West exit. Follow 84. Go west about 5 miles to Miss.
State Hwy 29, and exit to the north. Go 1.6 miles to the John Hill Rd., which will be on the left (west).
On the way, pass a water tower on the left (west) at 1.0 mile. The HP is adjacent to the John Hill Road
intersection with Hwy 29. Park on 29's wide shoulder just south of the intersection, and scramble up the
small embankment on the west side of 29 into the woods (small broken-down barb-wire fence to cross).
The highest spot of ground is any of several spots in the woods (which recently had a ground fire, so there
is almost no underbrush or bush-whacking). I walked around 'til I satisfied myself that I'd touched the
highest ground.
The ridge that this HP is on is scenic, especially to the west. South of 84 on 29 yields good views of
Laurel to the east, at night.
