Deer Lodge County High Point Trip Report

From Exit 102 on I-15 went west on MT 43 then southwest, then west-northwest on FR 1229 (not marked
as such on MT 43) which gives access to Mudd Creek and Fishtrap Creek. Going north on FR 1297 gets
one to Trailhead #19 at 6,360 feet.
Hiked up TR 130, then TR 9 to Warren Saddle at 8,580 feet. Climbed the northwest ridge up to
West Goat Pk (10,793 feet), the cohp. No cairn, register or BM.
Went over to East Goat Peak (10399 feet, drop = 299 feet) which had a good cairn. Went down the south
ridge from East Goat, then went southwest and down an 800-foot, very steep cliff in woods and picked up
the trail back out.
Trip statistics: 11.25 hours, 16 miles, 4800 feet elevation gain.
