McCone County Highpoint Trip Report
Date: June 26, 2006
Author: Adam Helman
This effort was part of a larger journey
collecting Idaho, Montana, and Washington county highpoints in late June and early July 2006.
The four mile length of road noted in Bob Packard's report has a section
that curves north, west, and finally south about one mile west of its eastern terminus.
Thus the air distance from road's start to end is just over three miles.
A gate is located 800 meters east of where you leave this road for taking a grassy track
north in the general highpoint direction. When I was there the gate was not posted.
At the highpoint area there are two obvious candidates for the county highpoint on either
side of the jeep road. The one to the west, and at an antenna mast, seems to be higher.
