Prairie County Highpoint Trip Report
two points (3,600+ feet)
Date: June 26, 2006
Author: Adam Helman
This effort was part of a larger journey
collecting Idaho, Montana, and Washington county highpoints in late June and early July 2006.
These two points lie on either side of Big Sheep Mountain Road (henceforth, "BSMR"), and are trivially reached
with some five minutes hiking apiece and nearly zero elevation gain if appropriately parked.
BSMR is accessed via Montana Route 253, a highway that connects Terry
to the southeast (and on Interstate 94) with Brockway to the northwest.
BSMR is largely dirt and is impassible in and after a rainstorm. The previous year I
turned back after less than a mile of mire, and was glad to be back on the pavement of Route 253.
Apart from this issue of dry weather, it hardly gets easier for western county highpoints.
