Crater Lake National Park High Point Trip Report

Mount Scott (8,926 ft)

Date: July 3, 1986
Author: Ron Tagliapietra

The south entrance station to the National Park and the Mt. Scott trailhead from OR 62 is open all year except in bad weather to Crater Lake Lodge overlooking the lake from the southwest. For the Mount Scott trailhead take the East Rim Road around the east side of the lake, most of which is one way clockwise around the lake. The East Rim Road is typically open from late June through September. From the trailhead the trail climbs from an elevation of 7696 and extends about two miles to the summit.

The aerial view is superb across the fabulous lake and south to distant Mount Shasta.
