Mesa Verde National Park High Point Trip Report
Park Point Lookout
Date: May 25 (?)
Author: Andy Martin
This summit is called Park Point Lookout, and is shown on the
park handout map given at the entrance station. It is only a few
miles west of the Morfield Campground, and we drove there after
picking out a campsite. A parking lot is just 200' from the top,
and we all followed the paved (?) path to the top and
enjoyed the nice view of distant peaks.
A ground level fire lookout
is at the top, which seems appropriate, given fire damage seen
along the road on the North Rim drive. I left off a HP list in
the brochure box at the trailhead.
The Morfield Campground seemed
a bit crowded and costly, reminding me of Tuolumne in Yosemite
the previous summer.
