From Highway 64 take forest service road 71? this is about a mile west of where the AT crosses Highway
64. The road is not named but it does have a small brown forest service sign saying Deep Gap. The road is
on the South side of 64. About 1/2 mile from the 64 turn-off, the road forks. Take the left fork and stay on
this road for approximately six miles until it ends at Deep Gap parking area for the AT.
From the parking area take the AT North (Standing Indian is South of Deep Gap parking area. The AT
makes curve to the South and East before resuming it way North.) for 2.4 miles until you reach a blue blazed
side trail going to the top of Standing Indian. There are some very nice views form the top. The BM
Standing Indian 2 has been destroyed, however a witness mark for BM Indian 2 is easy to find and points
you to what is left of the BM hidden in under a bush.
