Jones County High Point Trip Report

There are two areas that are possibilities for the Jones County HP.
One of these is near the tri-county junction with Duplin & Lenoir Cos., and the other is also
an area on the Lenoir Co. line, on an area posted by a hunting club. From the intersection
of NC rtes. 24, 41, & 111 in Beulaville, go north on 41. In a few hundred feet 41 will go off
to the right (northeast); continue straight north on NC 241 for about 6 miles to Country Club Rd.
on the right (east). Turn right and go about 1.3 miles to the county line. The high area is on
and near the county line, which trends pretty much due northwest-southeast here.
The second area is reached by continuing east on Country Club Rd.
(it may be Tate Rd. after crossing the county line) about 1.1 miles to the first intersection.
Turn left (north) on Potters Hill Rd. and go about a mile to the county line.
Here there is a 3-way intersection. Take the dirt road on the right (northeast) and follow it
as it winds into Lenoir County, then back into Jones County. The road is gated at this point,
and posted by a hunting club.
The high area seems to be straight ahead along the road and the adjacent areas.
Seek permission before entering.
