Jones County Highpoint Trip Report

I visited area 2 first. As I got out of my car, I was greeted by the friendly
and colorful Dwayne Miller, who was working in the garage mentioned in Patrick Craft's report.
We talked for 30 minutes on various subjects and he didn't seem
to think county highpointing was strange – which casts serious doubt on his
sanity. He gave me (and future visitors) permission to explore the areas south
of the road and around the garage but warned me that he's seen quite a few
rattlesnakes in the vicinity. As a bonus, his cousin Milton insisted on leading
me to the survey marker indicating the tri-county junction. I'd recommend
future visitors to ask permission from these two friendly individuals.
Area 1 is being logged and is posted only against hunting. The dirt road pretty
much followed the high ground. I ended up following the road for about 1.5
miles and wandering off to the north to stand on areas that looked higher than
the road. This area is not pretty.
