Lincoln County High Point Trip Report
Buffalo Knob (1,480 ft)

This one is off NC 18, north of its intersection with NC 10 (and before the next
intersection, Old Highway 18, at BM 1329). We did it on the way to South
Mountains State Park, for Cleveland County hp (you must take Old 18 anyway).
Since we were headed north on 18, we took a left onto a gravel road (gate open)
toward a radio tower. The tower is on the western peak, but the cohp is the
eastern summit.
We therefore parked at the last left before the tower, and I bushwhacked up the
eastern summit. I found a hunter's tree stand right by the top. There was a
4WD road to it but I don't know where to get on it. The bushwhack back to the
road was easy since I could just follow the radio tower. Should this access
ever be locked, you may wish to park at the church at NC 10 and bushwhack up
that side.
Trip statistics: 0.2 mile round trip; elevation gain 100 feet.
