Chestnut Bald - on county line (6,400+ ft)

We followed the route used by Fred Lobdell and John Mitchler in 1998. The bushwhack south from nearly the highest point on the trail gets pretty thick up high, but mercifully is not too long. On the return we stayed close to the ridge line and slightly west of north, and avoided some of the thickest stuff from the ascent. Long trousers a must.
