Chase County High Point Trip Report
BM Lamar (3,742 ft)

This county is easily accessed off of US 6 that runs between I-80 in CO and McCook, NE. Follow US 6
until reaching the CO-NE border. At the border, look for the Colorado Welcome sign and the Nebraska Welcome.
The road you are looking for, Road 65, is between the two signs - awfully convenient.
Turn south on Road 65. Follow road 65 for 3.7 miles south until you reach a 90 degree turn (to the right).
From this bend continue straight ahead (off of the main road) along a rough overgrown 2-track 0.5 mile to a gate.
I encountered a ranch hand on a 4-wheeler at this point and asked if it would be okay to hike over to BM Lamar.
He said there shouldn't be a problem and that I was welcome to go ahead. Hence I don't have good
contact information for the landowners. I believe that the house directly north of the HP may be a good
starting point.
From this point the highest point is easily discernible a little more than a mile to the Southeast. Hike through
varied terrain, over/under 3 barbed wire fences and head up the obvious highest point. Upon reaching the top,
I located BM Lamar and enjoyed the sprawling views. The climb may be about 200 feet of vertical.
