Holt County Highpoint Trip Report

Drive NE11 to a point a little over a mile north of the Holt-Garfield county line to a ranch road on the left,
starting paved from just south of a sub-station. Drive about 8.5 miles west to the Don Ackles Ranch, which
is shown on the topo as the Indian Hollow Ranch. We found Grace Ackles, a lovely lady, at home. She was
the one we had visited last fall and found that the fire danger was too great to drive the ranch roads.
Grace described a route that let us drive to within a quarter mile of the northern hp, from where it was an easy
walk through pasture to the top.
The southern hp is on property of Grace's brother, Jim Taylor. Permission and directions should be obtained
from him. Grace should know how best to find him. We found him mowing roadsides. Jim described 2
possible complicated routes to drive near to the southern hp. The one we followed had many turns and
several gates, but it took us within a short walk to the hp, which was near the BM.
