Sheridan County High Point Trip Report

Morton Hill (4,300 ft)

Date: July 13, 2002
Author: Walt O'Neil

John Mitchler's directions were great! From Highway 2, 33 miles east of Alliance, head north on Highway 27. At roughly 16.5 miles, the road climbs just after a ranch on the left. Park at a pull out near the high area on the road and head west cross-country. Go about a mile or so to the obvious high area (which won't become obvious until you're closer. There are 2 possibilities close to each other. One is definitely higher by about 10 feet. Nice views. There's reason they call these "Sand Hills".

Statistics: Distance of 3.4 miles in 1 hour 33 minutes with 320 feet of elevation gain.
