Questions - Scott Surgent
Congrats to the recent Arizona County completers. Seeing that there are
now 11 such people, that means that there have been at least 11 people to
the top of Mt Graham (Graham County HP). I'd like to know how they made
it to the top ...
Controversies - Fred Lobdell
Rule Number 10. Machine aids - snowmobile, parachute, chopper, etc.
There are those who maintain that any way you get to
the top of the mountain, even if dropped off by helicopter, is legitimate.
We recognize the achievement of "getting there", not the method
or distance/elevation gained. If this becomes a real problem
(highly doubtful) we can re-think this.
Trip Reports - Roy Wallen
I am happy to report the successful
completion of my first CA highpoint at Hot Springs
Mountain (San Diego county) on last Saturday.
The day-use fee is currently $10 and I was the only one
afoot that day. There were two jeeps and a mountain
biker that I saw on or approaching the summit.
I parked a few miles short of the summit and enjoyed the walk.
Hiking arrangements - Roy Wallen, Vista CA
My schedule is not completely flexible but I'd like to
adjust it to start on my local county collection. If someone's
flying in, my Jeep can be put to good use.
Gossip - John Mitchler
I returned to Illinois this past weekend for my 25th year reunion. I
presented a copy of my CO CHP book to my high school and two local
libraries. The local talk radio show I was to be on has been postponed.
More about that when it's rescheduled.
Completions - Andy Martin
Good news for Arizonians, as of Saturday October 9, 1999
we have recaptured the county completer
crown from Utah with the addition of Molly Martin and
Jane Martin to the AZ roster.
