Bernalillo County High Point Trip Report
Sandia Crest (10,678 ft)

Three options to access this highpoint: a drive up the east side to within feet of the summit,
a long 15 mile "La Luz" trail hike from the west side, or a tram ride and a 3.5 mile,
round-trip stroll across the ridge. I chose the last, since trams are cool. $14 for a ticket,
which will take you up to the top terminus at 10,370 feet.
From here it's a straightforward hike along a trail to the summit.
I had some snow, some ice and lots of mud on the trail. Visited the summit, and also visited
the Kiwanis Cabin, which sits on a promontory visible from the tram. Very pleasant.
Note: Tram does not run on Wednesdays before 5 pm through Memorial Day.
During the summer it runs all day, every day.
