I took the rough way, going east on NM 165 at exit 242 on I-25. Hit the Cibola
Forest Boundary at 9 miles and 7+ miles of rocky road before I hit NM 536,
a nice paved road all the way to the summit. This can be better achieved from NM
14 with paved road all the way. I walked to the HP.
Coming down was much longer as a motorcycle tried to pass me and ended up going
over rocks into a 30-foot ditch. I found a turn around and came back and got
help for him, feeling like a guardian angel. He never lost consciousness and
wound up with a broken ankle and pulled shoulder. I marveled at the speed and
ability of the rescue squad. 3 hours later I was down the hill to Route 14.
