Managed to get the car to within a mile of the knoll by following some recent tire tracks. They turned out to belong to a friend's 4wd vehicle. He was kind enough to transport us to the col just east of the summit, where we broke out the ice axes, roped up, and successfully ascended the east arete.

Editor's comment - In truth Sugarloaf is a dinky knoll that is a complete walkup. The author has branded the report with his version of humor.
