Los Alamos County High Point Trip Report
on Caballo Mtn

Lousy day for a hike, overcast with traces of falling snow.
Went up Agua Piedra trail, which was not maintained,
so we bushwhacked most of the way up. Snow was 1-2 feet deep on mountain top,
which was quite flat and tree covered. We wandered around for quite a while,
but never got a positive location for the Caballo spot elevation,
or the Los Alamos county HP. Did not find a fence line at the county border,
but did find a big cairn at the top of a clearing. Following the neglected
trail down the ridge on our return was a good exercise considering the effects
of 30 years of neglect on trail markings.
