Not able to get gate key on this trip, so we parked at locked gate near 5400'. Hiked up jeep road to near 7000' NE of the peak and then made beeline to ridge top, aided by a cable from mining operations. Register at summit, but no sign of old Heliograph station, which may not have been located at the summit. It would be hard to ride horses all the way up. Access from SE from Hatch is cut off. No problem with a car to the locked gate and you may be able to get keys to the gate from the ranch house. I got the keys some years back. Nice view, but hot hike this time of year.
