Douglas County High Point Trip Report
East Peak
Date: June 2000
Author: Bill Jacobs
Scott Surgent's write-up leading to the gate is highly accurate. Upon arrival, found the gate locked. The
construction workers opened it up during the intervening time while I was stashing my car. If you attempt
to drive-up, you may find it closed upon your return.
I interpreted the warning signs as serious because they were even prohibiting joggers who are usually the
least destructive of property intruders. I used the dirt road only for a few hundred yards, following the ski
runs (Olympic and Nordic?) to the right of the construction road. The ski runs were certainly shorter than
the road system and pass far to the right of the lake eventually leading to the highest skilift/house just
below East Peak.
