Pershing County High Point Trip Report
Star Peak (9,836 ft)

A pretty good dirt road heads up Eldorado Canyon to some trees and a building at 5,700 feet.
A car would have had to park here, but the 4wd crawled up to 9,400'.
It suddenly occurred to me that we had chosen the proper vehicle for this expedition.
The switchbacks gave us some good 4wd practice, and I kept a white knuckle grip on the
crash bar when going up some steep bits. The road was well graded, and led to some mining claims.
The rock at the top is limestone, with many neat inscriptions.
The register is a big white plastic tube. The summit was very windy,
another storm was blowing into NV. We kept to the lee slopes,
and admired the efforts of the many hikers who had made the top, some after tough struggles.
