Mount Davidson is just uphill from Virginia City. We took the Ophir Grade to a 6,661' saddle, on a road that was barely passable by car. After this, the road quality deteriorated to 4wd in spots, and we parked at some radio towers about 1/2 mile NW of the summit.

At the top we found two tin cans joined to form a register. We had a nice view of the mountains to the East, and the high peaks rimming lake Tahoe. We took the Jumbo Grade towards New Washoe City and made a nice but windy camp.
