Rensselaer County High Point Trip Report
Berlin Mountain (2,818 feet)
Date: August 26, 2000
Author: Dave Galvin
The trails in the area are pretty trashed up by heavy RV's, flooded and badly eroded, with multiple
alternative tracks running around the worst areas through the woods and meadows. The summit itself
looks like a frequent partying site, with lots of broken bottles and a large bonfire scar. In spite of the
damage, the area is well worth a visit. The summit has an almost 360-degree view, and the panorama of
Mount Greylock is fantastic. I imagine one could also climb Greylock on the same day, as the round trip
between the trailhead and Berlin is less than two hours.
