Owens Mound [BM Andover] (1191 ft)
Take US 6/OH 7 north from Andover about one mile and go left (west) on Owen Hill Road. Go 1.8 miles
to crest opposite gas tanks. In the off season, this would probably be an easy bushwhack. In August, I had
to machete my way through underbrush and briars, only to find an easy descent route once on top. Walk
across the field, aiming for the visible gap in the tree line. Enter the next field, and cross it to another tree
line, which requires a short bushwhack. Once in the third field, follow the edge uphill to the right. The
field gives way to a grassy slope that leads to within 50 horizontal feet of the summit and a taste of the
briars. I found a solitary, almost square rock in top, but no sign of benchmark Andover. Since there's no
data sheet for this BM, it's probably long gone.
2 small areas 3/4 mile WSW & 1 5/8 mile SW of Williamsfield (1190+ ft)
Northern point: From US 322 west of Williamsfield, go south 0.2 miles on Ridge Road, and park by
derelict tanks on the right. Walk 1/4 mile through cornfield on opposite side of road to high ground.
Southern point: Continue south on Ridge Road a total of 1.0 miles south of US 322 to a left turn at Tidd
Road. Park at the low crest after 100 yards. Short stroll to high ground to the south.
1 area 3/4 mile NW of Pennline, PA (1190+ ft)
From US 6 in Pennline, PA, take SR 4006 north 0.5 miles. Go left on dirt road for 0.5 miles. Right on
dirt road (Stateline Road) for 0.1 miles. High ground in cornfield just west of road.
