Brown County High Point Trip Report
one area with BM Ash Ridge (1,096 ft)
Date: June 22, 2002

From the intersection of Ohio 32 and US 62, turn south on US 62 and drive 3.5 miles to Schwallie Road.
Note the grey house and red barn on the corner. This is the home of Mrs. Wilma Dunn, who owns the field
where the highpoint is located. She was very friendly and granted me permission to walk in the bean field at
the top of the hill. Continue west on Schwallie Road for 0.35 mile to a new grey house occupied by the
Meyers family. I met Stacy (Mrs. Dunn's granddaughter) who granted me permission to park and hike
through their yard to the bean field to the south. This large contour crosses the road just to the west of the
Meyers house (where spot elevation 1091 is located), however it is apparent that the highest spot is about
0.2 mile south directly under the high-tension electric wires. The topo indicates BM Ash Ridge exists at this
site, but there is no surface trace of any mark (however there are reference marks along the edge of the field
to the south and east). The data sheets indicate that BM Ash Ridge is 1096 feet above sea level, and my
hand level checks left no doubt that this site is much higher than the spot elevation in the road.
