Driving west from Mansfield on Route 309, watch for the Galion Municipal Airport and the
Crawford/Richland County line. After you cross the county line, watch carefully along the left side of the
road for a sign that advertises The Cake Place. It is about 0.25 mile west of the county line, and it looks
more like a driveway than a road. Turn south on this dirt road, which soon improves to nice gravel.
About 0.2 mile south, stop at the ivory house to your left (# 8101). No one was home when I visited, but if you
can get permission to park in their yard, it will save you some slogging across a very muddy bean field to
area 1, which is located southwest of the house out in the field.
To visit area 2, walk to the northeast corner of this bean field, where you will find a place to cross the fence
into an adjacent cornfield. Area 2 is a slight rise to the northeast in this cornfield. Both of these fields were
quite muddy when I visited, and will not be accessible once the fields are planted.
