Delaware County High Point Trip Report

From the US 36 - Route 314 intersection just east of Centerburg, travel north on Route 314 for 2.75 miles
to County Road 13. Turn left and drive west for another 2.9 miles. As you travel west, this becomes Ball
Road (Mt-Vernon-Olive Green Road according to DeLorme). Be careful not to be tricked by a sign that
says "Leaving Knox County, Entering Morrow County" that you will see shortly after crossing Bloomfield Road.
This IS NOT the Delaware/Knox County line! Keep going west until you see a farm lane to the
south that heads toward a clump of trees. A blue and white house (# 5793) is west and north of this location,
along with a sign for "spinning and weaving".
Park adjacent to the farm lane, which separates wheat and corn fields, and hike south as the path rises and
goes through the middle of a clump of trees. On the south side of the trees, the path stops, but continue
heading south across the cornfield as it drops, then rises. Continue south and head for the western corner of
a wooded area. The first rise you encounter is not the highpoint. The highpoint is only about 100 feet north
of the corner of the southern woods.
Apparently, the farm path you've walked is the county line. Why there is no sign on the road identifying the
line is a mystery. When I originally tried to access this site from the south, some residents on Porter Lane
confirmed that this is where the county line is located. It hasn't moved!
