Travel northeast on Route 241 for 9 miles from Millersburg to the small community of New Hope.
Follow Route 241 as it turns north and then northeast for another 2.5 miles to County Route 652. Turn north on
Road 652 (becomes Kansas Road) and drive for about 2.1 miles to where the road crests, just north of the
intersection with Cunningham Road. If you haven't already noticed, you're in Amish country and both
property owners on the left and right sides of the road are Amish.
The neat white house on your left (west) is owned by Eli Troyer (9481 Kansas) and sits on the western edge
of the largest area. The high spot west of the road is near two very large birdhouses which are on the edge
of his yard and field. The contour crosses the road to the east,
where the highest spot is actually located in a cornfield.
Unfortunately, it isn't easy to get to this site, because a series of strong fences have been erected
every 100 to 150 feet which parallel Kansas Road. Unless you're good at jumping solid fences, you'd better
continue north and ask Mr. Miller (9348 Kansas, the obvious farm on the right) for permission to enter his fields.
You can get to these fields more easily from his long driveway.
There is a second area which sits farther east in this same fenced and cultivated area, south of the barns,
but hand level checks indicate it is a little lower than area 1. Be courteous and respectful of the Amish way of
life when you visit. Unless you're content to just stand in the road, your visit to this county will not be a
"gimme" experience.
