Mayes County High Point Trip Report
Date: June 8, 1999
Author: Andy Martin
The day was drawing to a close as I neared the Mayes Co. HP.
This was a record setting day, with 6 OK counties tamed.
The HP is at the top of a 160'+ hill, with a good condition dirt road leading
right to the top, where the Rose Lookout Tower is still standing,
though it did not look used much, and was fenced off. The road had a lot of large cobbles
in it, perhaps these helped this hill resist weathering
and rise above the plain to the north?
I hopped out of the car, spotted the BM, and did not linger long, as the sun was setting,
and I wanted to rustle up a bush camp.
