Texas County High Point Trip Report
Date: June 7, 1999
Author: Andy Martin
Having already visited the OK state HP, my first OK county
[in the cross-country trip] was Texas. The single area HP is just north of highway 56,
and I parked on a dirt road about 1/4 mile north of the HP.
I strolled south across a sandy and grassy field. Did non find BM Elam,
but did find a witness sign. Sight level showed I was near the top,
but ground is pretty flat. Left a register on top of a rebar at ground level.
My standard register was a state list, inside a plastic bag, rolled into a
soda can with the lid cut off. Extra cans were procured from the side
of the road as needed - the beer cans are not mine, honest.
Back to Texas county - I hiked on south to the midline of the section
where a good sized manmade dirt berm runs east/west.
Those not interested in manmade features can take a pass on this one.
