Benton County High Point Trip Report
Mary's Peak (4,097 ft)
Date: June 12, 2003
Author: Bob Bolton
We headed for Benton County, OR, on Thursday late afternoon, planning to drive up Mary's Peak and enjoy
the sunset from the summit. The weather didn't quite cooperate, but we were there during the sunset.
We simply didn't have a view of it due to clouds.
This is a very interesting mountain, the highest in Oregon's Coast Range,
with expansive views up and down the Willamette Valley and across the Coast Range.
We were not able to enjoy the famous views of the Cascade volcanoes due to clouds. However, we did get
expansive views of the lowlands. A good place to take non-hiking friends on a hot summer day.
