Coos County High Point Trip Report
Mount Bolivar (4,319 ft)
Date: August 13, 2003
Author: Adam Helman
A well-defined trail winds around the east, and then north slopes of Mount Bolivar 1.4 miles to the summit.
With the elevation gain only 1,200 feet, I maxed-out my effort (which I could not have maintained for
a longer affair) and was on top in 31 minutes with a 15 pound daypack. Descent took all of 27 minutes.
The big news here is that a bust of the great liberator is no longer. Only the concrete blocks
that supported his likeness remain - as well as a plaque that appeared unharmed (see photographs).
Some photographs of Mount Bolivar are available.
