Umatilla County Highpoint Trip Report

The road to the lookout on Tower Mountain is very rough but it should be noted that the first 6 miles of 12 were the roughest by far. The 3rd quarter of the road was pretty nice at about 30 mph. Unfortunately I was stopped by downed trees at 10.5 miles. Having driven the entire way there and not wanting to go back empty-handed, I quickly hiked the remaining 1.5 to the top, setting out at about 8:10 p.m.

I was back at the car (without venturing up the tower) by 8:50, which seems really quick for me, so someone may want to check exact mileages. It appears that people have visited the summit on ORVs this season but the area is not currently staffed.
