Yamhill County High Point Trip Report
Date: November 11, 2000
Author: Jim Perkins
On a whim I made an attempt at Yamhill County, Trask Mountain. I wish I had proceeded with a bit
more planning then just "flying by the seat of your pants." I had not counted on encountering snow down
at the 2500 ft level. Previous visitors before me had gratefully worn some tire treads in the snow,
unfortunately, these treads were now full of water and ice. Lacking snow tires, and no desire to skid off of
the road, I ended up being stopped 3 miles short of my goal. With 3 hours of hiking ahead of me, and 2
hours of daylight left, I decided to forgo the freezing and return a much more educated highpointer. Trask
Mountain will see me another day.
