Park at the Appalachian Trail crossing on PA 183 at the Berks/Schuylkill County line. Hike generally
west on the very flat, broad mountain until the trail finally starts a significant climb. At the crest
bushwhack left (south) at least 200 feet to a boulder field with the highest ground. On the way back to the
trail I got disoriented, could not find the trail, and had to trust the compass to work back toward the east
on an overcast day with fading daylight. It took over a half hour of bushwhacking east and north before I
intercepted the trail, 3/4 of the way back to the highway. Be careful bushwhacking on this very wide, flat,
and featureless mountain!
