Berks County Highpoint Trip Report

From the intersection of I-78 and route 183 in Strausstown head north on 183 until you reach the AT
crossing (less than 3 miles) that is signed with the "Georgia to Maine" brown sign and is at the top of a hill.
Park on the west side of the road and jump on the AT headed for Georgia. Follow the AT (a.k.a. white blazes)
for a little over 1.3 miles until you reach the highest point on the trail. This is very difficult to tell,
but we left the AT at coordinates (40° 31.381' N, 76° 15.175' W) and bushwhacked south for 0.3 mile until
reaching the HP cairn on a small rock outcropping.
The cohp is located at (40° 31.072' N, 76° 15.139' W), using the WGS84 datum.
There is also a geocache hidden at the summit. The associated web page for this cache
is found here.
Overall this was a fun hike made better by the search for the elusive cache once we reached the summit.
