1 1/2 mile north of Round Top (2860+ ft)
Take PA 869 northwest from Pavia 5.1 miles to the State Game Lands parking lot on the left. If gate is
unlocked, almost the entire route can be driven. If not, hike from the gate, bearing left onto the better dirt
road. Reach an area of burnt/blown down timber and see another signed parking area on the right with a
locked metal gate. Take the wide grassy path/road past the gate, heading west southwest. This road is not
shown on the topo map and passes along the north side of the large 2800' closed contour shown on the
map. After about 3/4 mile, the path crests, with higher ground to the left. This area is large and flat, with
the two high points hard to distinguish.
It took about twenty minutes of wandering to feel confident of covering the area thoroughly. Round trip
took 1:30.
1 point 3 miles north of Ogletown (2860+ ft)
From Ogletown on PA 56, turn onto Schoolhouse Lane, then left at T-intersection for one block, to right
turn onto Hollow Road. Take Hollow Road 3.4 miles north to Skyline Drive. Left on Skyline, which can
be very muddy, for 0.5 miles to the crest, which bisects the 2860' closed contour. The highest ground was
not obvious, so I walked both sides of the road. This area is part of a reclaimed strip mine, covered with
grass and some planted evergreen trees.
