This is one of those "Explain me one more time how much fun I'm having" counties.
one point 1/2 mile north of Round Top
Mike Schwartz's 2004 report is about the best of the lot (although I'm not
criticizing the others). Game lands parking area was obvious. Gate was again closed,
so I got to walk. Stay on the good dirt road until the first parking
area ON THE RIGHT, where there should be another gated road. You will be due
east of the HP. Stay on this second gated road passing a fenced in area,
walking along a wide, grassy road. When the GPS says you are about 200 yards
due east from the HP (and who are we to argue?), bushwhack left through the
ferns until you figure you are where you need to be. Flat and featureless.
About the only good thing with ferns is that it is easy enough to follow your
tracks back the way you came. A bit more than 1.5 miles each way when all is
said and done.
two points north of Ogletown
Based on local signage, this should probably be Ogle Township. I came at these
two from the northwest via Dunlo and Krayn. There was a detour after
Beaverdale, so I just followed Delorme. After Krayn (town motto: "You blinked,
didn't you?"), the road becomes dirt. Skyline Drive (later sign) or Old Bedford
Road (Delorme) is not signed on the west but it is a reasonable dirt road and
the only thing in the area. Stay on this for 2.5 miles to where the road gently crests.
I felt the highest point was about 40 yards south of the road in the
open field. Continue another 0.5 mile to the intersection of Skyline and Hollow.
Last point is about 200 yards northwest through flat woods. If there
was something with more than about a foot or so of relief, I didn't find it.
