Mike Schwartz's trip report is still accurate. The sign for the Spectacle Gap Road now spells it correctly. This rocky (in spots) road can still be driven by a passenger car if driven with care. When at the summit and facing the former lookout tower, there will be a grassy track going northeast from the left side of the open area. I followed this road for several hundred feet and felt that the highest ground was off to my left from the road.
