area 1 mile south of Princeton
The shooting range road was gated, so I figured no one was there and, like Mike,
scrambled up the embankment. I waded through a healthy stand of poison ivy
to get to the high ground, which was perhaps a couple of hundred yards east of the road.
As I was walking back to my car I heard a shot but I couldn't tell where it came from.
two areas 2 miles south of Princeton
The road to the radio tower has been newly graveled and I was able to drive right to the top.
As Mike noted, this area is quite clearly higher than the contour on the other side of the road,
which need not be visited. I was unable to find BM "Princeton".
The farmer who owns the adjacent land has planted crops almost right up to the highest ground.
area southwest of Portersville
This hill is owned by the occupants of the first farm on the southeast side
of the road that you get to after entering Lawrence County from Butler County.
I stopped at a barn first and talked with a young man on a tractor who said
the owners were in the next farm down the road.
As I was about to get into my car to go request permission,
a lady came out of the house opposite the barn and asked
if she could help me. I explained what I wanted to do and it turned out she
was the owner's wife. She looked a bit bewildered at my request but
readily granted me permission to walk to the top of the hill.
I did so, through waist-high grass.
It appears that this is either a hayfield or a field being left fallow this year.
