Lebanon County Highpoint Trip Report
Date: January 29, 2007
Author: Deuane Hoffman
We went up Gold Mine Road from its junction with PA 443 and found the dirt road
access that goes westward to the HP. This PA Game Commission access road is
gated with a brown swing gate and is located on the west side of the road about
1.9 miles north from where Gold Mine Road intersects with the access road to the
eastern end of Stony Valley.
We hiked the road west till the junction with another road where you can either
go left or right. This junction is a little over one mile from the gate.
We took the right fork and proceeded on it till we were due south of the HP area.
From here we bushwhacked up the mountain to the ridge crest. We ended up just
west of the prominent bump that marks the HP. Upon climbing up to the HP I
found the small rock cairn mentioned in previous reports. I dug up my own rock
and added to the pile.
Exiting, we descended down the ridge southeast, hit the road, and retraced our
steps back to the truck.
Total time was about 2 hours and included some celebratory photos at the HP.
