Monroe County Highpoint Trip Report
Pimple Hill, Dresser Hill, and Kistler Ledge
Date: April 26, 2008
Author: Don Desrosiers
Started at Pimple Hill because I was pretty much there. Previous directions
will get you there easily enough but check the schedule at Poconos Raceway
before you go. Parked at the parking lot at the bottom of the hill and walked
up the marked trail but should have stayed on the road. High point (with sign)
was obvious.
Dresser Hill - Completely avoided the guard at the gate because I could.
At the turn from the 423/196 intersection, go south on 196 to the first road with
yellow gates BOTH WAYS. Park off to the side and walk up through the
neighborhood. Follow the map maybe a shade over 1/4 mile each way.
Plan B was to walk through the woods to the north-northeast of the point and
come in along the telephone line (which shows up on Google maps as an open area.
Plan C was binoculars and a birding book.
Kistler Ledge - Parked near the electric substation the same as everyone else.
Walked along the power line to the west side of 196 then northwest through the
woods to the point in question. Easy walking this time of the year.
