Philadelphia County High Point Trip Report
on Summit Street in Chestnut Hill (440+ ft)

The City of Brotherly Love's highpoint is an easy drive-up in this perfectly charming upscale
suburb-like neighborhood.
We came in via Bethlehem Pike, which might be best reached by getting somehow (there are several options,
the Pennsylvania Turnpike being the closest but not the one we used) to PA 309 and continuing southeast on
Bethlehem Pike even after 309 moves on to another road. It will start to climb even before the city line approaches.
At Stenton Road (the city limit) take care to watch to bear right to remain on the Pike; if not, however,
one of the cross streets will allow you to make up the difference. Summit Street is an extremely
sharp left next to a Sunoco station right at Germantown Avenue, and #12 is not far beyond.
You should be able to park near it or very close.
High ground could be in either its front lawn or the driveway of the house next door. Looks like a bit of
artificial regrading may have built the land up some, but you're definitely at the right place.
