Paddy Mtn (2,160+ ft)
From the junction of PA 45 and PA 235, go west 2.9 miles to a left turn onto Bear Run Road. Reach T-
intersection at 6.2 miles, and turn left onto Cherry Run Road. Turn sharply left onto unsigned dirt road
at 7.1 miles. This road becomes steep and rocky at 8.7 miles, but is passable by passenger cars.
Reach crest at 9.8 miles. High ground is just north of road.
county line on the slope of Buffalo Mtn (2,160+ ft)
Retrace the previous route back to PA 45 and Bear Run Road. Go west (left) on PA 45 for 0.2 miles and
turn right onto Sheesly Run Road. Turn left at crossroads at 2.4 miles onto Stony Run Road. Reach
signed trailhead for Kessler Trail at 2.8 miles. Take trail to mountain crest, then carefully follow ridge
line west, staying on high ground. I bushwhacked all the way to the summit to ensure crossing the county
line, which is unmarked in the woods.
Jones Mtn (2,160+ ft)
From the Kessler trailhead, continue west on Stony Run Road for 3.5 miles to crossroads, and turn right
onto Pine Creek Road. Bear right onto Jones Mountain Road at 9.3 miles. Road crests at 12.4 miles, just
past power line and overlook parking area. The road goes right over the summit.
Notes: See stone county line monuments on Stony Run Road (also benchmark) and Pine Creek Road.
Stony Run, Pine Creek, and Jones Mtn Roads are all excellent gravel roads.
If doing the three points from the north, the junction of Jones Mountain and Pine Creek Roads is 1.0 miles
south of PA 192.
