This page lists the number of county highpointers residing in each state. The compilation is not exhaustive since it is difficult to pin down the places of residence for many semi-active highpointers. Nevertheless 133 highpointers are represented - a sufficient quantity to provide a good idea of the overall statistical distribution of where "we" live.

The current list was compiled in summer 2005, and requires updating to remain a valid construct as seasoned highpointers move and as new highpointers join the ranks.

States known for their mountains are overrepresented (relative to their populations), e.g. Colorado and Washington. Arizona is overrepresented as the state where county highpointing began life.

Many major United States cities are underrepresented, e.g. no county highpointer resides in Chicago, Illinois or its environs.
