I parked illegally at the gate after chatting with a local who said that it more than likely wouldn't matter if I parked there. I wouldn't necessarily try this on a non-holiday weekend but seeing as it was the day after Christmas and there was a subzero wind chill, I was willing to press my luck. I followed the old road past the gate to a second gate with a hole through it. The road petered out after this and I followed various game trails to the clearing at the summit that probably hosted the old tower. I couldn't find anything higher. 10 minutes each way. Looking at the underbrush, this would most definitely stink in the summer. Once again, nice views of Mt. Hope Bay.
