Darlington County High Point Trip Report

From North Hartsville, turn north on Ruby Road. Drive to the Chesterfield county line and note the four
dirt roads that arrive here, two left and two right. First, I turned left on the first road and drove about 0.6
mile and parked on the left on an unposted road. I then walked that road and poked around that area until I
was satisfied that I had bagged the highpoint. (Of several hills, I thought it was beyond the barbed wire but
unsigned fence.)
I returned to the paved road, and crossed onto the second road on the right, but found no one home at the
only house in the first half mile down that road. I therefore returned to the paved road and parked off the
first road to the right (by the gate at the radio tower). I then walked the road a little (to avoid the radio
tower posted signs) and then cut in toward the obvious hill to the right. From that summit, I followed the
ridge behind the house where no one had been home and came out again on the road beyond. I then walked
the dirt road back to my car.
