Spartanburg County Highpoint Trip Report

Follow US 176 north from Landrum. Just prior to Greenville county sign turn left on Bird Mountain Road. Travel 50 yards and park on left. The gravel drive with "the Jennings" sign is the road. Head up until stopped by a gate. There is a sign Bird Mountain Registered Heritage Site, administered by the South Carolina Wildlife and Marine Resources Department. Follow the road to the top where you will find a beautiful stone observatory, a carport with some old cars and camping trailers, a large garage, RR depot and a caboose!
