Ken Oeser's report is good, but the large stone marker was not there when he was there. Dedicated on March 22, 2001, it marks the Doug Horsted Memorial Game Production Area. The parking area now includes signs for a waterfowl access trail (to the pond to the south). A sign from the department of Game, Fish and Parks says that there is open hunting.

I agree with Ken that the northwestern spot is lower. While I walked around a bit, I think the marker occupies the highest ground. The highpoint is just a few steps from the car. Note that Buffalo Trading Post is on SD 19 north of Humboldt, which is on I-90 (exit 379?).
